Plus the Ecoboost weighs about 130lbs less than the 6.2L, giving the truck slightly better balance and handling.
Those two factors combined are probably why they went with the Ecoboost (along with the fact that the Ecoboost is their most popular engine offering). For a sport truck it makes perfect sense. The 6.2L would make more sense if they were going for more of a muscle truck.

In most tests the Ecoboost out accelerates the 6.2L, as it has a better hp/tq curve up to about 4500rpms. The 6.2l only makes more peak hp/tq.

It comes down to how deep your pockets are. If you have $6k-$7k to put forced induction on the 6.2 it will become a whole different beast. Put a tune on each and the Eco will be a whole different beast.

i think you will be surprised. think about it..who buys a reg cab truck anymore? answer..basically no one except long bed XL's for work trucks.
its not a practical truck for 90% of people. hell even for me it could be a pain at times. your dealing with a 2 seater, short bed truck. there's not alot of demand for that.
if they have any true desire about drumming up a real interest AND selling any of these trucks it will need to be priced competitively.
more then one source i have read (non are official ford pricing i get that) has come up with pricing starting at 26-28k and topping out below 40k.
another thing to add to discussion. 2014 should be the last year of this body style. so by using up FX4 parts (bumpers,wheels,seats...ect) they are killing to birds with one stone thus not needing the huge price tag that goes with those parts normally.
we will all have to watch and see though!

Since the Tremor only is available in regular cab, short-wheelbase form (regular cabs represent about 5 percent of F-150 sales), Ford isn't expecting huge sales numbers, but eyes incremental-volume growth, said Doug Scott, Ford Truck Group marketing manager.
Helping to make the Tremor a production reality is the repackaging of existing hardware, including the generous use of custom-inspired FX components. It borrows the FX Appearance Package's bad-boy-look flat-black accents, including body-side graphics, badges with red lettering and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Wrapping the six-spoke wheels on the Tremor unveiled to the automotive press are 275/55R-20 Pirelli Scorpion STR white-letter tires.

but it looks as if Ford will attempt to keep the base price under $30,000 -- although official pricing hasn't been released. If it can keep the price lower, it might open up doors to a consumer wanting an aftermarket look right off the dealer lot and at a fair price.

there is no way this truck should or could sticker for over $30k with the "nice" options.
it's a freaking 2 seater shorty bed. Sticker price for my SuperCrew FX4 with Luxury Package...aka Lariat 4x4 was just under $44k. That truck had every option you could get but navigation. I'd probably laugh myself off the lot if I saw once priced that high.
Could be a cool ride though with some tuning. New intake and tuning on that EB + some traction bars = fun ride
