Oil In IC Boot ?
Hey all, I did the .50cent mod "FINALLY" bout 3 or 4 weeks ago. Upon removing the passenger side ic boot i noticed a small amount of an oily substance in it. It seemed to be pretty thick and black. Found it laying in the top boot by the spider and the bottom boot @ the ic on the passenger side only. Driverside was clean as a whistle.
I did the ccv mod back in 08 and installed all new boots from RR at the same time. I THROUGHLY flushed the ic with solvent then simple green several times. I haven't had the boots off since and they are all nice and shiny. Im also running a dry filter also.
So where is the small amount of oil coming from ? Its not a lot like 2 or 3 table spoons worth. It was also really thick from what i remember. Truck now has 235k
I don't know why i just now remembered this but thought id ask while it was on the brain !

Thanks Rich, I was kinda thinking the exact same things. I was able to grab the wheel when i had everything apart for the .50c mod. Felt nice and tight up and down or side to side. A bit " SMALL AMOUNT " of play in and out though. Not coming close to the housing.
Probably leftovers from ccv mod though i hope. Its stk turbo never been out and its at 235k mi. As always just making sure nothing is out of the norm.
