your welcome for that,,,, i was a disc jockey in high school played music on lunch breaks,,,,that was why i enjoyed going to concerts for ,,,,watching some interesting jamm sessions,,,,1 of my favorites was when santana and gary wright jammed together
I have a friend that was the manager at the studio in Los Colinas Texas where ZZ Top recorded Eliminator. They had a 10,000 square ft studio with a 8500 sq ft one between them and the other companies recording at the same time. They played so loud the other companies could not record. I got to meet the band. They are great guys. Billy Gibbons has a huge collections of cars.
my buddies brother lived in texas for awhile... he hung out with them to and did mention billys car collection ...said they were down to earth guys....if i remember right he evened rhoaded for them on local shows

That would have to be very interesting! Gary Wright was kinda considered a light weight pop artist but having seen him once (Robert Palmer opened) he's a very good and talented musician.
BTW Robert Palmer's band was just 4 piece--drummer, bass, guitar, keyboards and Robert only on vocals. That outfit was absolutely one killer band, bass player and drummer among the best I have EVER seen.
JWA thanks for the robert palmer hook up,,,,, i been wondering who redid little feat songs,,,you hooked me up they never did much with this band in cleveland,,, i forgot about them
Reviving an old thread here....
I have most of their recordings, including some of the Moving Sidewalk tunes. I will probably see them in concert March 9 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
this explains it lowell george was his guitarist than
Lowell George was indeed one of the better known slide guitarist of his time. Too many forget Ry Cooder---another guy we've all heard before but probably never gave it much thought.
For one of his better cuts check out John Hiatt's Memphis In The Meantime When I first got hip to John Sonny Landreth was playing in his road band---he don't take second place to ANYONE in slip slidin' guitar! To wit:
I Have enjoyed ZZ Top since the beginning in 1969.
One of their songs that I don't see in this thread Mexican Blackbird.
It's a little different than much of thier stuff. Good tho:
thanks JWA,,,thats some groovin music ,,,,,p.s. i been wanting to ask you if i could find any of your old band music anywhere,,,,,, like listening to new music
