Lightning valance on a lifted truck
Anyone running this setup? I'm thinking of running one later on, I have the stock straight plastic valance now but was thinking of putting the lightning one on with fogs later, just wondering how it would look on a truck that isn't low to the ground.
I'm also thinking about just running no valance.

i was having problems with under hood temps too high with my custom front air dam.
i literally just today, removed the big ugly thing (aero mod for economy) and installed the look a like lightning front air dam/valance (an ebay special = Replacement #F2TZ17626A) on my 4wd.it looks 10x better than what i had on there of course, but it's still too high.it just sits above my plow's push plates.
the engine temps are far more manageable now of course.with it's holes for the fog lights and the brakes it should pass through plenty of air to help pull away engine temps under the truck even if i install a lower section to it,which is what i'll do now,so it'll look twice as deep and be down below my push plates.
i'll go snap a pic for ya and edit it in here in a few mins.it may not be a lifted truck, but it's something for ya.

wow sorry.i forgot i lent out my cam.had to find an oldie but goodie.
anyway,so not a lifted truck,and a copy cat knock off valance......but hey,beggars can't be choosers lol! least it's something.so here ya go.
you get 'er mud and all.got to wash her up tomorrow.
before:
it helped with economy.thing is,it was ugly, and i then i fixed the truck up and it became even more ugly.so i had to do something.
after, with the lightning style valance.see attached.
now i'll just get something black to go under it to deepen it up about another 3-4" and call it good.a happy medium to block some air,but not ungodly looking and so low it drives my under hoods through the roof again.
the top home made (running board to fit a super cab 9th gen - off my old truck) with it's black plastic layer measured 12" high.
the black plastic valance measures 5" high.

lol yeah i think your right.it's not to help it avoid that at all.just stop the air from going under (well a lot of it anyway) and drive it outward to the sides.
economy went up nicely when i blocked the air from going under the truck.

thing now is,that i have dual underbody boxes with no skirt between them,so im not so sure pushing more air to side of truck is as effective as it used to be anyway.i dunno.this valance with it's large holes of course wont be as effective as what i had but it sure looks a lot better lol.i always track economy,so we'll see.

side topic;
that's actually a culvert/tube up top.a custom made tool holder for my peavy and long pole saw and pruners.iv got a hinged half roof over the bed.
i prop it up to shoot chips with chipper,or flip it right up over and rests on the tool box tube, when loading wood.

Partsgeek.com sells the valences for $15 (Regular style) and $27 for the Lightning style; They call it the "Tow hook" version...Which is cheaper than $70 to LMC for the same frackin piece.
