hello , I have a 2006 6.0l and im loosing coolant / water , I have checked the oil and its not in my oil . and Im not seeing any on the ground . I haven't noticed a change in power or performance at all . the truck is completely stock . thanks for any ideas or help in advance .
Start with your caps-radiator and reserve tank. They will normally vent under higher pressures. If they're not tight, they will vent more easily. Next point, check your coolant/water mix. Mix will turn to steam faster if it's water heavy. More steam = more pressure = more loss. This is normal this time of year with higher temps. This assumes that you are running the green stuff (you did say water) but a 50/50 mix is where you should be. Don't tear anything apart until yet!
One quick test. Well over night test but it's easy. Park truck with nose lower
than the rear let it sit for a few hrs. Pull the EGR valve out and look to see
if it's wet. If it is most likely you have a bad EGR cooler. Also do you have
any non stock gauges? Your going to need them and there are some very good
options out there. This is what I have like a lot of the 6.0 people ScanGaugeII : Linear Logic - Home of the ScanGauge
You can get it at Autozone for about $160 and program in the Xguages
and then you will have most of what you need for the gauges in one package.
The one think you need to look at it the temp delta of the oil and coolant.
When you go into the 6.0 Forum look at the tech folder and do some reading
there is a lot of good info there.
