360 power steering pulley removal

I have a thread on dropping a 360 in my Dad's 76 F250. THe 360 is out of another 76 F-250

I need to reverese (or replace?) the pulley on the power steering pump. The belt won't line up.
I finally got the right brackets, but the pump is for the 6 cyl. It seems if I flip the pulley around, it will line up.

I thought it pressed on and off but there is an allen wrench fitting in the center. I have tried everything I can think of but am trying not to destroy the pulley. I do have the junk pump that was attached to the bracket I bought and it seems to have the pulley on the right way (pump is destroyed, pulley is destroyed). So even trying to take the wrecked pump's pully off just to figure it out was futile.

Anyone know how to get that pulley off?

Sorry, it takes a special puller to remove the PS pulleys without wrecking them. You will probably have to bribe a shop to do it for you. Steve

You will have to find the right pulley they cannot be reversed. The link below is the puller you need.

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. I can probably come up with the right pulley from the salvage yard. I am nearly finished with this project-and can get my garage back....

I gave up on the pulley. There is exactly ONE and it's at a Ford dealer in Daingerfield, TX. You have to pronounce that with a twang...I couldn't believe it was actually spelled that way...

But they never answer the phone, and I verified the address and phone number matches. What a lot of effort...

I found a pump with the right pulley at a nearby salvage yard for $25. Project done. We will start it up SOON!

Thanks again for the help with the pulley tech.

FYI; Autozone rents those pullers for about 20 bucks.
