Front door privacy window question...

Was there ever a Ford OEM factory dark privacy tinted front door window for our trucks? Are all the front tinted windows I've ever seen from 99 - 07 Super Duty trucks from people who have applied the aftermarket tint film?

Thanks,
Drake

As far as I know the front windows were not ever tinted very dark from the factory. If you want to tint yours, it is fairly easy. I posted a thread a while back that explains the process.

Thanks. I will look that up. What I was interested in doing was pulling some glass from a salvage yard that had factory tint. I have already snagged a couple of rear OEM tint windows for my crew cab and I love how it looks compared to my Acura which has the aftermarket tint film. It just doesn't look as good looking through it from inside the vehicle.

OK, sounds like a cool project. If you decide to change the glass (or even if you don't...), it is a good idea to remove the rubber exterior window seal and clean out the dirt and sand that collects in there. That is what scratches the outside surface of the glass when the window is raised and lowered. I was surprised how much dust collects in that channel.

I'm just hoping someone can confirm that Ford made an OEM front door glass with dark tint or not.

Just be careful of the law. Most states won't let you have much tint on the front windows. A CHP told a friend of mine that hers had to be clear. Not really true but they don't allow much here in Ca. Makes the cops really nervous during a stop.

I cand find anywhere that says that they do. Everything is listed as REAR privacy glass.

Thas said, march down to the dealership and look at an XL 550 and compare the front windows to that of a 350 King Ranch, and they are darker on the KR. Not much, but some.
