f6 226 spin on oil filter help

I believe the difference is that the V8 engine uses tubing and hoses for the supply and discharge from the canister, and the 6 cyl. supply and discharge is integral with the mounting bracket. The spin-on filter will work fine in the partial-flow application, but it won't be used in it's fullest capacity as a full-flow filter. I am going to look into this down the road for my 254 because I want the convenience and cleanliness. It should not be difficult to fab a bracket to mount a remote spin-on filter (I've done this on marine engines) and tap the existing supply and discharge ports for NPT.

The elements in a bypass filter are much finer than for a full-flow. The spin-on full flow will obviously do "some" good, but not as well as a bypass element. From the Ford Barn:
A bypass filter like the original will remove finer particles than a "full flow" type filter
Most ring and bearing wear is caused by particles under 20 microns
a bypass filter will remove 98% of 2 micron sized particles
A full flow filter most likely will open the internal bypass valve on cold startup and not filter till the oil thins some, then ---
40% at 10 microns
60% at 20 microns
90% at30 microns
97% at 40 microns
87% capture rate for single pass ----
the "full flow" filter has to be a compromise between filtering and flow, the ideal setup would be a combination of full flow and bypass
The million mile Mercedes only had a bypass filter

There is only one Spin-On oil filter adapter kit (B7A-6882-A), but it's for OHV I-6's and V8's only .. not for flatheads.
