That rear axle also seems pretty beefy, doesn't look like the 9.75 sterling that most trucks are getting now. Aluminum is tricky, ever seen the repair bill for an Audi A6 or A8? Those cars get totaled when a regular steel car would be fixed after the same accident. Also appears like they squared up the front of the truck even more, made it straight versus a slight arc rearward. Rear window also appears to be a single piece unit with a sliding middle piece, versus the 3 piece units we have now as well. I also think that the second spy pic shows the rear shock absorber facing rearward versus forward that it currently does. Also seems to have that square intake for an intercooler like the current ecoboost trucks have now.

The only parts that really welded now are the cab corners, roof and floor pan. Most everything else is a panel or door that can be replaced.
Look at the Expeditions, hood and rear gate is aluminum.
I do wish that Ford would take a firm stance of engine development, build one that's reliable and that can be improved as per EPA mandates and stick with it.
Constantly changing or introducing new engines will be Ford's undoing.

Apparently the guy really doesn't like being photographed. Check out that salute.

These nano ecoboost engines are very interesting. Where will they fit in to the engine lineup? Apparently Ford has a lot of engines in the pipeline to choose from.
2.3L Ecoboost I4 (reportedly making 350hp in car trim)
2.7L Ecoboost V6
2.9L Ecoboost V6
3.2L I5 Diesel
3.5L Ecoboost
5.0L V8
6.2L V8
Most likely the 3.7L V6 and 6.2L V8 are getting dropped from the F150. Most are saying the diesel is definitely on its way. The 2.3L is probably only for cars.
That means we're left with:
3.2L Powerstroke
2.7L Ecoboost
2.9L Ecoboost
5.0L V8
3.5L Ecoboost
Supposedly the 2.9L Ecoboost will roughly equal the output of the current Ecoboost, but with better fuel economy. If I had to guess the engine lineup might look something like this:
3.2L Powerstroke @ ~250hp
2.7L Ecoboost @ ~300hp (replaces 3.7L V6)
2.9L Ecoboost @ ~350hp (standard engine, best balance of power vs. fuel economy)
5.0L V8 @ ~400hp (obligatory V8)
3.5L Ecoboost @ ~450hp (Top Dog competitor for GM's 6.2L and Ram's 6.4L V8's)

As much as Ford plays the game of oneupsmanship, I can't see them standing in the sidelines here and watch GM and Chryco steal the initial sales from all the hype.

Interview was less than a month ago. Ram is the only company putting a diesel in half ton trucks.

What I would love to see is locking side boxes like Ford used to have in the 70's, but on both sides. I have gotten one, and I am looking for another for my project truck.
I like Dodges ram box a lot since I am a regular cab type. For me if I was looking to buy a new truck that is one feature that is hard to ignore.
It does a lot for me as a person then then new eco-boost motors that are supposed to be coming out.
