A 7.3 would have been a better choice IMHO. At least you'd still have a Ford. You'll think you're in hell riding in that Dodge.....

I'll take the Dodge over a 7.3 any day of the week.

I'd take a 6.5 IDI before I'd take a 7.3.

Thinking of trying these:

Polished Aluminum Ford Super Duty F 250 F 350 Excursion Differential Cover Kit | eBay

They are finned aluminum and come with gaskets and hardware. Would be nice to have a nice front cover to match the back and they're still 60 dollars cheaper than a single Mag-Hytec unit.

I did some searching around on the trans pan and your only option is a 200+ dollar pan, nobody makes a halfway decent aftermarket one for the money. I will most likely just get the OEM 08+ with the internal filter. Mark actually recommends against using the aftermarket higher capacity pans in our application but definitely recommends the OEM 08+ pan with the internal filter. Also, there are a few other tuners that do not recommend the high capacity pans as well.

I found the same ones on Ebay for a little less: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polished-Aluminum-Ford-Super-Duty-F-250-F-350-Excursion-Differential-Cover-Kit/251300837181?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D261%26meid%3D28678297753857529%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D130949652008%26

Awesome! I just realized this as well. I can't run a bigger sump cover in the front anyways because I've got the dual steering stabilizer setup. So it looks like I'll be getting the ones listed above. They're aluminum, finned, and stock sized not to mention they're about the price of what two of the rear OEM 08+ ones run.

Just placed an order for those. They seem to be the best bet for a set of finned aluminum stock sized covers. There are a lot of just regular polished ones but they aren't finned and that's what I want. The bigger sump covers won't fit my steering stabilizer not to mention they're insanely pricey as well. These are the cost of two OEM 08+ covers, so I figured that's a good price to pay. Time to start searching for the trans pan and filter. Most likely I'll just go over to Ford tomorrow and order them with the external filter.

Make sure that you get the o-ring for the external filter. The Ford boxed filter doesn't come with the o-ring like it does with the NTZ oem kit.

Thanks Chris. I'll keep that in mind.

Went to the Ford dealer today. Ordered the 08+ pan and filter along with the external catridge filter and seal. Ended up being right around 130 for everything which about what it ran through Tousley's.

Got my parts in today. I am thinking of painting the trans pan and painting the differential covers. The trans pan is just plain aluminum so I wouldn't mind painting it to keep it from corroding. Was thinking of painting it the same yellow my brakes are since it's just sitting by itself without any color around it. I also debated doing the differential covers yellow since they are highly polished aluminum and then sanding the fins but I think it might be too much yellow and I think the polished would be way too bright as well. All of my frame, axles, and most of the suspension has been painted wrinkle black. Thinking of maybe just doing them black and sanding the fins to create a nice contrast. What do you guys think? Colors of the truck are yellow, black, and chrome.

I would go black. I think the YELLOW would stand out too much.
