Hey guys this morning when entering the highway i stepped on the throttle to merge with traffic from rolling about 40mph and noticed some smoke from the exhaust which wad fine but then i noticed the service engine soon light was illuminated? I never had this happen before so i went easy on her and it went away. I read in the owners manual to pretty much not worry about it but i just want to see off it its something to look into or is out just something that happens once in a while? I'm running a dp tuner on 80econ stock injectors, stock hpop, straight stock exhaust.
I'll bet it was on for about 90 seconds, then went out on its own. That's an overboost (over 27 PSI boost). The only cures with a DP is don't use a tune over 60HP, or get a boost fooler.
Yeah that was it on for 90 second then out. I didn't have a chance to look at my boost gauge since i was focused on merging. Now is there anything i should worry about or is it alright?

Just your EGTs. Boost is a combination of heat expansion driving the turbo and the efficiency of the turbo. More boost-in is self-feeding to more boost-out, but more heat-out gives it a bump. I'm not saying you're in the danger zone, I'm saying glance at the EGT gauge when the "lightning" comes with the thunder. I used my SES light to let me know when I was approaching max boost for the stock turbo (30 PSI on the hot side of the intercooler). Now with my boost fooler, I have my alarm set on my boost gauge to let me know when I reach a boost level I want to reach. My GTP38R has a different maximum than the stocker.
Note the location of the boost sensor on the system before the upgrade - that's the hot side of the IC.

X2 on this advise. That's what I did - I run in 60e daily, and tow in 40t or 60t. I wanted to stay efficient and minimize smoke, so 80e had to be parked with my stock injectors, HPOP and turbo. I did like the aggressive tip in on the go pedal with 80e though.
