Yep, 2. One comes on when the parking lights/headlights come one, and the other comes on when I step on the brake. Works nicely.

Just ordered a new speedometer gear to finally set my speedo/odometer right for the 37s. Don't know why I didn't do it sooner... It's only a $10 part and takes 5 minutes to put in.

Going from a 19 tooth driven gear to a 17 tooth gear. By my math, that'll put it within 2.3% of being correct. Really not so worried about the speedo, but I like to track mileage by the odometer for oil changes and tracking fuel mileage. Using google maps or my GPS is getting old when I want to track MPG.

I plan on taking it off. If I miss it I'll probably buy new moulding. I've seen a couple perfect condition trucks around town without it and think it looks okay. Haven't decided, but a pinstripe might be nice where the colors meet where the moulding currently is. I plan on getting it painted the same colors.

Honestly, it's hard for me too see my truck without the moulding, but I'll see how it goes.

Personally and this is just my opinion I would take it off and put a red pinstripe like you have now to offset the colors. I never cared for the body side moulding as around here if falls off fast. First thing I did to my 88 body wise was take off the trim style bumper.

I took mine off when it started coming off by itself, and it was starting to look pretty ratty as well. At that point I also decided to go back with the original color of black. When I priced some new moulding (ouch), I decided it could stay off.

The moulding on mine is original and isn't coming off anywhere, so I'm not so worried about that. I'm just going to see how I like it with it off and go from there.

Trav, I do like the red pinstripe. That's probably what I'll have done.

On the 86 we use to have it had the stainless with black insert in it. I took the black insert off off the truck and was going to polish the stainless part so that it looked better but never got to it.

Can't wait to see it done.

If anything goes back on, it'll probably be like what was on you 86. I like that. It's aluminum though not stainless, right?

I am not sure I can't remember. Here is a pic maybe you can tell. Personally I don't think it would look that good on a 87-91 Ford.
Trav
These pics are before I tore the moulding off we traded the truck in right after I took it all off.

Awesome! Yea I plan on using it as a third brake light, I hate how my 92 doesn't have one

Hmm... That's not the same thing I was picturing. I've seen a molding on a few 92-97 trucks that's shaped the same as the regular molding but it's got a lot more aluminum in it. I think it must have been either an upgrade you could order or only certain packages got it.

Seemed like a good idea to me. Then someone told me it would be more effective to put one on my differential with the height of my truck, lol.

Good luck man! Make sure you wire everything safely.

I think it was available on the 87-91 trucks too, but I hardly see any of this generation trucks on the road around me. Haven't spotted an 8th gen with that moulding yet.
