04 F150 overdrive

When I push button to go to O/D nothing happens. I have to downshift the transmission to keep going. Are there bands in this transmission? Is the O/D controlled by a solenoid?

The button is there to turn the overdrive off in certain applications such as when towing, it doesn't engage overdrive.
