Exhaust Kits For Ford 150. What Brand To Use

I have a 2005 Ford 150, V8 5.4L Trition, 4x4.

I was looking for a new exhaust kit and cannot decied on which sytem i should put on the truck. Companies like Dynomax and Magnflow and others all make a package for the Ford F150 that seem very similar...I was thinking about choosing the DynoMax: Dual - 2.5" Cat-Back System. 3" Polished Stainless Steel Tips. DynoMax® VT Muffler.

Does anybody have any experinces with exhaust kits on the Ford 150 and could shead some insight on which exhuast brand is best???

There is no "BEST" exhaust system. You will find good quality with all the name brand aftermarket manufacturers. I went Banks all the way from tuner, intake, to exhaust. Others mix and match and are just as happy. Choose what you can afford/like the most and you should be happy with the result.

I hane an '04 scab, 5.4, 4x4, 6.5' bed, 18" wheels lariat. Had a Gibson exhaust cat back dual system when I bought it with 84k in 2011. Sounded good but I put on a K&N full system, throttle body spacer and an Edge programmer. It sounds awesome and I have gotten some "seat of the pants" power out of it. I now have 102K and if the damn rain stops this weekend, she will be treated to new Motorcraft plugs. In the past, I have used Magnaflow on bowties and also some Flowmasters. Pick what sounds good to you!
Good luck!

It all depends on how much you have to spend.

Borla-Bassani-Roush {in my opinion are top of the line}

The rest are close in quality and sound.

Some are way over priced!

If you search around you can find a complete exhaust for below $300.

My son loved the MBRP! Sounds like a tuned Mustang GT-> not a redneck pickup.

Youtube is your friend!

My 07 Flareside Scab 5.4 already had a new catback Flowmaster SI/DO Series 40 based system with tailpipes out the back when I got it, but considering my line of work then, it was too loud for two reasons (the other being I did not like the drone). I saw that a straight section of pipe 32" long Ford had used behind the cat and ahead of the muffler (I figure ford used same exhaust at both ends just varrying this piece's length by wheelbase) was 2.5" diameter. I duplicated this section of pipe at both ends and same length except I used a long 2.5" In/Out straight glasspack and short piece of pipe .... perfect resonator!

I really like the MBRP sound and currently enjoy an SCT X3 on my 08, do you know where the best place to get an MBRP is? I've searched high and low on the web and far as i can tell its all the same for near $350.00. Also, with one of the MBRP's being a SI/SO, do they sell just the muffler so that a muffler swap could be done to save on the cost of their pipe? Thanks guys.

Fello Okie: Hello! My son and I looked for weeks for an exhaust system for his 08. He didn't want dual out like all his friends. He wanted a SISO. We found the best price at that time @ Jegs. $309 plus handling $13.99=$326 to our door.

That was the cheapest we found at that time... We looked for many days.

The exhaust has around 10K miles on it and it just keeps sounding better and better. It all depends on the sound you are looking for.

I will also say! Before install we took 2 cans brake cleaner and cleaned all oily film of exhaust... Then Installed... Then applied 6 to 8 coats of High Heat Black Paint to entire exhaust to help keep rust away. As of today it still looks brand new.

MBRP seems to be a favorite. but i have someone that can get me a deal on a dynomax exhaust kit. Does anyone have any experience with the dynomax on ford trucks. my friend has dynomaxes on his dodge 1500 ram and they work well and sound good but a dodge aint no ford...

SyN, where abouts are you located? Around OKC? that still seems a little steep for me. I had the SI/DO 40 series on my 06 and loved it, but I am ready for something more unique. I am about to go to a custom shop and tell the guy I want it to sound like the early 2000's Mustangs, still the best V8 sound in my opinion. ( with the exception of a straight piped 6.0 powerstroke.) the dynos and magnas are too quiet for me, and the Flos are too common. And that MBRP sounds really good the couple i found on youtube.

We live in Woodward: I understand! Custom bought exhaust are not cheap! We had money already saved and we do not have a muffler or exhaust shop any longer. He closed shop and went to work in the oil field.

So our options were slim. I had a Zaw Zaw so the Install took 2 hours. Wish I could have bought Stainless Steel exhaust but I could not bare to spend that much.

Any way good luck on your Quest!

Main reason he wanted MBRP is because I have the Same brand on my 01 7.3L Powerstroke and It sounds awesome along with some extra nice smooth power increase over the stock system.
