No speedo cable or gear on that trans. That trans is an E4OD. It is completely computer controlled. Try pulling codes to see if anything comes up.

Woops. Had a brain fart there. Yes there is a speedo cable and gear. Check those for any wear or damage. Forgot it isn't the trans that determines it, rather the implementation of a PSOM that got rid of the cable and gear... My bad.

1992 was the first year Ford combined the VSS function with the RABS sensor on the rear axle. Therefore they dreamed up the PSOM to provide signal input for the electronic speedometer/odometer.
