Hey guys thanks for the welcome. I didn't realize this had been posted until now. I hope you don't mind me actually living in Utah and being an active Utah member....I've lived here about 3yrs. I grew up in Sonoma County and have spent many years having a good old time in the North Bay. many friends and family still there....Lake, Napa, Marin, Sonoma Counties. I also worked for the City of Petaluma for 20yrs.

Anybody from that area?

I see in your siggy that you have a highboy with a 78 body. Was this a salvage? No reason, just curious...

Not a salvage...I picked it up here in Utah. I've questioned the title and am working with the state to have it corrected. Here the correct title would be "Reconstructed" which is probably the same thing....It's currently titled as a 78 F150 2wd...no reconstruct or anything. I'm trying to get it titled as a 73-75 F-250 4wd. I haven't been able to locate the VIN on the frame yet.

NOOOOO, don't do it. If you are registered as an F150, and at that weight, then you are paying much lower registration. The only benefit to registering as an earlier year would be for smog certificates, where you would want to register as a pre-75. I'm pretty sure that an F150 is considered non-commercial, which should be lower registration fees than a F250 commercial vehicle registration. Check with DMV to make sure but I think I am correct.

You bring up a good point. I am concerned about that too. I'm am having a tuff time with smog. I got a 1 yr waiver last year and will have to go through the hoops again this year. I definitely don't want to make it worse. I guess unless I was trying to sell it to someone who cares, who cares what the title says? What do you think? You have to be pre-68 here to bypass smog altogether. Oh and fees here are nothing like they were back there. DMV here is not such a headache either. No huge lines or waits....very nice.

Personally I don't mind where you live, however, FTE rules state you must live in the state of the chapter you are joining. I will have to cancel your membership. Which means nothing really, you can post in all 50 chapters whether you are a member or not, the only thing it means is that you are not a member. It does not make sense to me. However, I don't make the rules.
My apologies sir.

Oh, I forgot that you're not in Cali. Duh, yeah Cali's smog check requirement is for vehicles 1975 and later. Apparently yours is 1968 so it would be a mute point. Check with your DMV to see if there is a difference in registration fees between F250 or F150 though. It may not even be a factor as they may base your registration on a weight certificate. But check anyway because it may be that an F250 is considered a commercial vehicle and an F150 may not, I dunno. I seem to remember that in Cali my truck is taxed as commercial because it is an F250.

As far as smog goes, that may be a difficult thing to deal with. See if you can find your state's smog ref through the DMV. There are parts of Nevada that do not even require any smog at all. I would have thought that much of Utah is the same way as there are very little air quality issues out there. Pretty rural and open country in most of Utah.

Hey nighteyes...rules are rules. I'm ok with that. I am flying the Utah banner so I understand. Glad to hear I can still post though. I'm A big fan of NorCal. Thanks.
If it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg I'd drive back there for one of your Gtgs while visiting family and friends. If you guys are ever in Utah feel free to look me up!

Wow, hey everybody. Been a long time since I've been on. Sold my 91 in the time and my work rig is an 07 F150, but I've added a 41 Ford COE with a 12-valve and off topic on brand but I got my first car back, my ****** CJ3A, and became a dad. So I have some excuses for not being around at least.
