I guess the title says it all... While checking my oil, about 18" of the dipstick tube came with the dipstick. The tube broke right at the upper mounting bracket. I am having a hard time pulling the tube out of the top of the oil pan. I have tried putting vice grips on the tube and whacking it with a hammer but it just won't budge. If anyone has any ideas it would save me from a costly tow and repair and would be appreciated.

 

Did you remove the 5/16 (8mm) bolt holding it in?

 

Yes removed the bolt lifted the bracket out of the way just can't get the stainless tube to come out of the pan.
