Decoding f-250 diff.

Hi I'm new so be nice.
I just bought an 86 F250, 6.9L, c6, 3.55:1 ratio, full floating axle. The cert sticker on the door post is unreadable, so how do I dine the axle capacity?
It has a 12 bolt cover and the tag reads:
Top line: V127A
Lower line: 55 10 2 6B20

Any help is appreciated.

Steve

You have a 3.55 ratio Sterling (Ford) 10.25" rear.

About 3 1/2 quarts of 80/90 GL5 gear oil.
There is no 'L' in the bottom line before '.55', so you don't need additive.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant fluid capacity.

That would depend on the springs and length of chassis.
You say you can't read the door tag, but the one in my truck says (rear) GAWR 6084 Lbs

'6B20' is built on Feb 20th 1986
'V127A' is a 3.55 10.25" for an f-250&350 pickup.
BUT it also says it is limited slip!

Perhaps the '3L' portion of the stamp is under the nut holding it on.

Our trucks are the same configuration, 133" WB.
I would think that 3 tons is about right for yours too.

BTW, welcome to the FTE forum!
