Best Tuner for 07 6.0L

So I have an 07 F250 CC with 38's and a 8 inch lift. I have heard numerous people using tuners to help with the trucks performance. My truck has 58,000 miles I have never had an issue with the engine and I dont want to do anything to compromise that. I have heard that you can use tuners safely if you dont drive the truck like its a corvette. I am easy on the pedal but was thinking that if I could get a little extra performance that it would be awesome. Any opinions on the best ones and if you would use one if it was your truck and you were looking to keep it for many years to come? Only mod is a turbo back 4 inch exhaust.

SCT Tuner and any assortment of custom tunes... Matt @ Gearheads or Vivian @ Quicktricks are likely the most popular.

I actually like the canned tunes on the SCT just as much as my custom tunes.

SCT for the win. Pick any of the well known tuners for custom files. WINNING!!

How safe is it to do? I don't want to mess up my engine in anyway.

Some will say you can run some tunes with tty bolts, others say stud the truck before tuning. I look at it this way, f you're handy with a wrench you can do studs and gaskets for around $1600 in parts. Or you can wait until the heads crack and make it much more. I personally am holding off on tuning my truck until its studded. But thas just me.

The tuning companies can adjust the custom files that could help prevent any issues. This being said you know the 6.0 issues and potential motor work required.

I'm not trying to go for anything extreme just maybe a little extra fuel economy and power so it moves a little easier. I don't want it to blow black smoke and I don't want the check engine light on. I'm just trying to be sensible because I love this truck and have no plans of selling it. That's all. I just want to be as smart about it as possible

The SCT Trans Only Tune is pretty neat. You keep the stock engine parameters (you can still turn off EGR if you want) but get better shifting and can also choose firmer shifting as well. The tune can give the effect of a little power since the trans has a little better shifting strategy.

Great for towing.

The canned Street Tune is fairly decent for city driving and the canned performance Tune does very well MPG wise on the highway.
