Hello Guys I have had plenty of 73-79 models but I am now looking for a 67-72 SWB BB.auto 2wd to put my 428 in to. I was just wondering if there are things I need to look for that are common to these models as far as rust,or wiring thats about the only 2 things that I can't fix my self.
any thing would help
Thanks
Gary
Rust has been the worst issue for me. It can show up almost anywhere but common areas are cab mounts, floor pans, tailgate, and lower panels such as doors, fenders, and cab corners. There are also more seams than on a 73-79 and the ones on the bedsides usually rust. I've found it on the bed floor particularly over a brace and even on the roof.
X2 with limegold. As for wiring..the only real issue you'll have is if the o.o. did a hack job with the wiring. Other than that I bought a 68 custom cab and all the wiring was near perfect. Everything worked and no shorts
If there's any break with the rust, a lot of patch panels are available. A lower doorskin fits either side and can be used for a fender or bedside. Cab mounts fit from the 60s through 79. Likewise the floor pans fit from several years. If your budget allows, complete fenders and tailgates are reproduced.
