Busted Fuel Injector Clamp?!
#46
Just one, three different times and cylinders. Finally on the the third time they did all of them after some real harsh words. That was about 40k miles ago. It was breaking one around every 18k miles. A real fun experience to look forward to!
BTW, to actually "inspect them" as the TSB says they need to be removed. They crack from the bottom. I had two others upon inspection that were waiting to break.

Warranty repair? If so make sure you're clear (if you feel this way) that you're pissed they didn't change all the clamps. The TSB allows it @ the dealers discretion.
You WILL have another failure. Just a matter of time. They don't remove the clamps to inspect as it requires to replace the bolt as it's a one time install.

Injector #5 blew out at 54K!!
Driving back after delivering a 10,000 lb loaded trailer 300 miles away and injector #5 blew out less than 20 miles from home at -30F....
Truck is a 2011 and very lightly used. 54K.
Very lucky it happened close to home and not with loaded trailer on a narrow secondary highway with no room to pull over.
Will take apart later this week.
Read through several posts and will replace all 8 clamps and bolts.
Ordered 8 new clamps/bolts, 1 seal kit and return line assembly.
Anyone know what damage to look for at the injector? I see most cases require a new one but did see one case where injector was reused with new seals and worked fine. Just had a quick look but mine looks intact. Steel injector line is bent and return line broke at connector.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced the clamp, injector line, return hose assembly and had it running within about 8 hours.
I checked the other clamps and found 3 more broken.
I replaced all remaining clamps and bolts on driver side with no issues.
I started on passenger side and broke 1 injector retaining bolt in the head. Bolt broke deep down at start of threads. I made a drilling jig to drill in exact center and drilled bolt to insert extractor. I attempted to remove with an extractor and broke extractor in broken bolt!
Busy with work and truck is sitting since.
Back to our good old reliable 2003 7.3 spare truck.
6.7 intake will have to come off and hopefully I can weld a nut on broken bolt to extract. Not looking forward to it. Will post photos if this works out. Thanks.

Anybody that doesn't replace all of the original clamps when their vehicle falls within the effective build dates is asking for troubles down the road. Ford "inspected" all of my clamps twice still leading to a third failure. You can't always see the cracks w/o removing the clamps, once removed the bolt isn't reusable.
