I have a 97 f350 4x4 sitting on 33s, my 33s are gonna be shot soon, so I wanted to get a set of 35s (because I am planing a lift sometime soon) people said they would fit but have to shim the front bumper forward, how do you shim it forward??
You can put washers in to move the bumper forward where it bolts up to the frame. The other option is to cut the bumper ends with a cut off wheel. If you get 35x12.5" tires you may have issues with the tires hitting the leaf springs if you have stock rims on the truck just so you know.
I'm doing the same thing, except I'm not lifting.
I do have a front helper spring and aftermarket wheels that should help
Get them out from under the truck an extra inch or so.
Are you working with the 16.5 rims, too? The ONLY tires I can find
Are BFG ATs.. Great tires, but I was hoping to spend a little less.
If you are looking for more options, Interco makes a selection of mud terrain tires for 16.5" rims. You can check them out Home | Interco Tire
Another option is Military Surplus tires. There are 36" and 37" tall tires. The 36" are Goodyear MT Bias Ply tires that are supposed to be really good offroad. The 37" are Goodyear MT Radials that are more of a street tire. A user on this forum has them on his truck, you can check his thread out https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-a-lift-6.html
I don't know of many places that sell them, but a quick google search came up with this one 100Dollarman - Tires!
Yeah, I should have clarified..
Interco is a perfect option for off readers, but I'm on pavement 90% of the time.
I seriously considered the Hummer route, but I think 35s are going to be max
For what I can fit, plus that's all I want to put my 16 year old TTB through lol.
Thanks, GNR!
Alright. I was just letting you know what else was out there. I have a couple buddies that have given me sets of 16.5" rims for nothing because they replaced them and those are the tires that I've found to be available. They are pretty well phased out, and a different rim size is about the only way to get more options.
