Cam swap 351w
Ive heard the flat tappet cams on the 351w are pretty crappy. My motor is bone stock and was thinking of starting by first swapping out the stock cam with this roller cam. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ed...FUxp7AodYWwAfQ Its my daily driver, just looking to get a little more kick into it. Would you notice a difference in performance bu just swapping out the cam?

That is way too much cam for a Speed Density controlled engine without a major tune and other pieces to go with it. Too much lift for factory springs and heads. Too little LSA to be happy with Speed Density as well.
The specification area also states in black and white:
Computer-Controlled Compatible: No

agree, way to much. more than likely make your engine run worse. have to make sure on what the compression requirements are. most cams require a certain compression to work right. if you want more power a good rv cam would be the way to go. summitt and other suppliers can tell what would work best for what you have.

Converting a motor from flat tappet to roller is a good idea but it will cost about 3 times as much because roller cams are more expensive and you need a set of roller lifters at a cost of about $300 and a shorter set of pushrods. The reason flat tappet cams are failing these days is because the oil companies have removed almost all of the zinc from modern gasolines, zinc is was important for lubricating flat tappet cams but all new motors use roller cams so it's not needed... unless you drive an old vehicle
