A couple of things come to mind. Make sure the coolant is in good condition. If not, flush the system & replace the thermostat, coolant & All rubber hoses. Check the oil dipstick for signs of coolant in the oil, or on the dipstick. If its been overheated, the heads tend to warp & leak coolant into the oil.
Check the manual tranny rubber shift rail plugs, as they tend to dryrot, fall out, or crack & weep tranny lube, causing excessive wear or tranny failure if fluid gets low enough.
Change all fluids, filters, hoses, belts, thermostat, plugs & wires, & maybe O2 sensors, to bring it up to date on all due scheduled maintenance items, with OEM goods, or products that say in writing that they meet or exceed Ford specs & it'll likely be good for another looooong run time!!!!
