Injector Nailing or Valve Tap, but different

OK guys, here's one that will have you scratching your heads. My 01 7.3 has a tap in it that gets louder after it warms up. Not enough to cause alarm, but annoying nonetheless. It sounds like an injector nail or valve tap coming from #6 or #8 position. OK that's the easy part. Here's the interesting part. When it is rainy and cool, it does not do it. Only when the weather is clear and sunny. If it is clear it does it night or day, but if it is raining, it does not do it regardless of the temperature. I'm lost on this one. It is raining pretty steady here today. I drove to the post office (About 6 miles one way) and back and it ran perfectly smooth all the way there and back with absolutely no tap whatsoever. Yesterday, it was sunny and about 65 degrees. It tapped all day after it warmed up. I would just like to get an idea of where to look.

Hmm... Does it change sound or frequency with engine speed?

And are you sure it isn't just masked with the rain? Maybe something on or near a belt or the fan that is tapping, but sticks down when it gets wet

spongecop is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
My 01 has a tap at idle which goes away with RPM. I assumed it was normal. No visible exhaust leaks

My engine is more noisy at full temp. It's the way the HEUI system responds to the oil viscosity. I have had loose injector bolts and tightening them up quiets things down. Air in fuel makes noise, the Hutch mod helps a lot. Fuel additive (I use Motorcraft) helps sometimes.
