94 f150 frying distributor pickups.

So i just finished putting a motor in my 94 lightning. (yes i know i should be in the lightning forum but tend to see alot more responses here) i had a roller 5.8 out of a 97 f250 that i picked up for a different project that i never ended up using. the original motor had a knock and a wiped out cam lobe on #4 cylinder. i reused the lightning heads and intake and a ho mustang cam i had. i used the dizzy from the roller motor since the lightnings had flat tappet cams. ran great for about three hours with no issues then just quit. figured out i had no spark and no injector pulse and figured ok well the dizzy was old no good. picked up a new one and it ran great for about 2 miles and toasted the new one also. from what i have read the distributors are identical aside from one being a cast gear and one being steel. what could be causing the truck to burn up distributors like this? also tried a known good ignition module with no change. any help is greatly appreciated.

went through engine harness and found no shorts or breaks in the wiring. any ideas what to be looking for? the only parts that are different that i'm using is the distributor and alternator. its a 130amp off my 96 and underdrive pullys. cant imagine either of those causing this problem. and i dont want to just keep killing distributors trying to figure this thing out. getting close to torching the whole truck at this point.

Was the replacement distributor a rebuilt unit? Most of them have bad PIPs in them because the "rebuilder" never tests them.

Just to make sure I would check the voltage with the truck running. I would think you would burn something else up if the regulator was putting out too much voltage, but you never know.
