Started out rough as I had to come down 500 get in elevation on a 200 yard long road that was washboard, scary to say the least. Once I got to the road I was a little more secure and had a nice 15 mile strip to get acclimated prior to i5. I got 10 miles in and was sailing at 55 with no issues aside from the noise of the belts which all stayed in place over the course of the journey!! Managed a solid 60 miles at 55 after not being driven in 20+ years but I wouldn't recommend that anyone try this at home, I been doin it for a minute
There was a ton of positive feedback waves smiles and stares, it was really fun. My speedometer was a bit bouncy reading 45-55 but the car behind was going 55 most of the way(said the driver) and I think the only update may be the carb, rear gears are original with about 25mph available in 1-3, 4th much wider, I'll get pics tomorrow. One nice bonus is the 50th anniversary horn button also an odd side note, she's tagged f500 on the hood emblems?
Thanks Jolly Roger joe I had a blast on the first voyage and look forward to any help advice ect as I've got alot of work ahead of me! I need solid serviceable rims, a bit of mechanical cleanup(carbs been rebuilt, but im gonna need to replace all the belts and the electric needs reworked a bit from decay) and a ton of cleaning lubing ect prior to daily use(which I plan on). I want to keep it as original as possible except for a nice steel flatbed.
