79 Bronco 460 to ZF5 flywheel ?s
I found a used flywheel and wonder if it is worth buying. The guy says it has about 10,000 miles on it until the clutch fell apart. He said it left small marks on it but not bad. He said he would have cleaned it off himself but he swapped to a C6. Now I am going to do a ZF5 swap in my 79 and I need to know if this flywheel is worth buying. How many times can it be resurfaced? Would it need resurfacing? Does it look like it is any good? Any help is appreciated!

have you picked up the ZF tranny yet for your 460? frankly the guy selling that tranny would be the one to get the flywheel from. have you looked into buying a new one from ford for a newer 90-97 F350? i dont recall the 460's ever going thru any imbalance changes like the 302/5.0 did.
you would have to pay to get that flywheel resurfaced regardless.

He got the zf5 thinking it was for a diesel. He didn't have the flywheel. My 460 is internally balanced (D1VE block) 76 model. 78 when they made the 460 external balanced. So you think it would be OK to get?
Ford racing has a 40 weight one. They told me if I unbolt the weight it would be zero balanced but idk.

The used one is zero balanced. A new one is $300+. There is a balanced flywheel that has a bolt on weight made by ford racing. Same flywheel..just a weight on it.they said I can unbolt the weight and it will be zero balances then. It will be less than $200. The flywheel uses a 12" clutch or 11". Zf5 for a 460 uses a 12" clutch.
