2011 super duty 6.2 oil

What oil is everybody running in their super duty 6.2s? I just bought mine 2 weeks ago and thought i might as well do an oil change, thought about just running motorcraft but 9 dollars a quart is kinda expensive when its 7 quarts that i need.

Motorcraft synthetic blend 5w20 5 qt jug $18 at Walmart. Quarts are $4.50. Motorcraft FL 820S Oil filter $4 Walmart. Pretty much one of the only reasons why I got there. Besides my Explorer is due for an oil change. I go to the local Ford dealer in the winter when I don't want to be laying on the cold ground. The local dealer is an $25 which is only a few bucks more doing it myself.

Are you in Alaska or Hawaii? Then I can see the price being that high.

Man I feel for you guys. I just got back from the stealer I bought the truck from. They provided the first change free. Ford came up with some kind of customer massage thingy that provides one oil change free which was my second and thereafter the fifth one is always free.

In the meantime they charge $17 and change for a service - that tops everything off also.

Service massage you say... Hummm... for $17 I get a massage and an oil change. Every 5 services are free. I hope it is from the cute girl at the cashier counter.

Yeah I have the Ownership Advantage program. I got one of those free oil changes coming for me in the Winter. I can tolerant the shade of the warm ground for oil changes

Curious, has anyone ever used Amsoil? Their XL series looks impressive. My brother swears by it, I have always used Mobil 1 but am considering going with Amsoil.

I used Amsoil in my Chevy for about 100K. Ran great. Pulled a valve cover and everything looked like new. Used Mobil 1 in another vehicle and got similar results. Mobil1 was cheaper and more readily available. Switched to Mobil1 for the next 100K. Opened it up and it still looked good even after 15 years and 202K.

When I make my first oil change on my 250 after the dealer freebie I will use Mobil1.

Ford's website has the 'works' package voucher that is 39.99 for oil change and tire rotation. Yes, they will charge you an extra $5 for the extra oil (coupon is for up to 5 quarts) but still a good deal all around.

What % synthetic is the synthetic blend? I have seen numbers ranging from 15% to 60% tossed around the 'net, but nothing definitive. I am approaching 2000 miles on my 2012 F250 and am wanting to change it real soon. My plan is to buy a 5qt Motorcraft jug of 5-20 Synthetic Blend from Walmart and 2qts of Motorcraft full synthetic from Pep Boys plus a Motorcraft filter. This July I will be towing my travel trailer to West Texas and want to change the oil before then.

I have 2000 miles on mine now and just took advantage of a free first oil change from my dealer too. Didn't even know about it until they were done and he handed me my receipt. He didn't mention every fifth free however, but I think I'll use the dealer e-coupons for future changes because they are a good deal.
