Upgrading a '94 F350 4x4 with the 460

Thank you very much for opening my thread.

This is CRAZY cuz this is my first post in the NON diesel section!! WOW!!

I just sold my F350 7.3 diesel and I am now looking to go back to gas. I miss the INSTANT throttle response that gas motors provide.

So, here's my question. I'm currently looking at 1993 crew cab 4x4 460 EFI on Craigslist right now. I'm in lust and am about to pull the trigger on it.

But, I live in California and we have the most stricted smog laws. What can I do performance wise to pump this rig up?

I believe its 230hp and 8-10 mgs in stock form.

I'm sure intake, headers, and aftermarket mufflers.

But what else?

cut the airhorns out of the plastic piece in the intake hoses going from the filter box to the intake manifold just make sure you leave enough to reconnect the hoses, bump the timing up some and other than internal mods that's about it. but don't expect much mpg gain.

Wrong application.
Efi heads are different for one
And that blower you posted is oldschool roots blower, not a compact centrifugal like what was designed for car/pickup use.
You could make it work, but you'd have to swap to older 460 head design and then rig up an injector top and throttlebodies.
Sure would be cool.

What you mean to post is this
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vor-4fb218-040sq
Unfortunately it is unavailable. Like it is on most every website.
You may be able to call vortech and get the brackets and a head unit. But probably not a complete kit.
The head unit is universal. It's really the brackets and extra idlers to make it work for your application. Being that the newest 460 is still over 13 years old, and limited useage (only in trucks since late 80s I think) its not a popular kit and it hasent been produced for quite a few years.
I'd have loved to have one for my 95 CCLB 5spd truck. I had dumped tons of money into the motor and banks exhaust and fun stuff. I woulda bought a new kit also. But couldn't find one.
It's too bad someone wouldn't produce the brackets and stuff for it. Then all we need to buy is the headunit.

Cali smog stuff.

You could make your own blower brackets but the devil is in the details. You would need to have a blower-equipped truck handy so you could copy it part for part.

Even at that, without the original exemption paperwork in hand, you would never get it past the smog ***** here in the Peoples Republic Of Kalifornistan.
