1955 F100 Dolphin Fuel Sender Help
So I have purchased the dolphin gauges for my 55, look good, but the instructions are a bit to be desired. I have everything installed and working except the fuel sender. I've read the instructions I bet 50 times and can't grasp why I'm bending the float arm not to mention that fact that the whole unit has to be cut to fit the stock tank (which I think I understand) plus I now have to get an adapter to also make it fit the stock tank.
For the float arm, there is a depth chart, which I understand, but it's asking me to bend the float arm to the dimensions in the chart (do I bend up or down?) then is says I have to cut off the excess leaving the 1/4 inch hook in place, but if I cut off the excess, the hook will be gone (do I bend a new hook)? For some reason I'm not grasping this at all. If anyone has done this would you please let me know what I need to do here? I've called them once before on EZ Wiring question, and not too friendly. I won't call them back. Nothing except the tac has worked out of the box, the oil sender, I had to go to H/D to get a fitting that would find my block, the temp sender was the same thing however they did have the right adapter for that.
thanks

Funny....I put mine into the 52 this weekend. It says to bend the arm...you're supposed to cut it and put a little bend in the end to replace the short 90 degree bend that is in the end of the float rod. When cut, with a new short 90 at the end, the length is supposed to be whatever shows up in the chart for your tank depth.
The other part that took me a few minutes to sort out...the sender rheostat slides up and down by loosening two lock screws...that goes to somewhere around half the depth of the tank, then cut off the excess support rod for that.

No problem.
I have to confess...I bent the arm per the instructions and realized that it just wasn't going to work that way.....so I cut off the arm. As I was putting in a new bend for the end, it dawned on me what the manual should have said. They left off a step.
By the way...it works well. I had just put in the tank and had all of the gas in cans...so I added 5 gallons at a time & checked the gauge between cans. It's pretty nice!!

That's really great, I do like the gauges and the rest of them seem to work very well. I've ordered the adapter and hope to have it installed in a few days. Thanks again for the quick response. I want to become a supporter of FTE, the people and the info here is wonderful, best I've ever found.
