Horns for 49 F3

My 49 came to me without the horns, can someone please post a picture of what they look like and where they mount?

Thanks

Some trucks (early? bigger trucks?) had the horn mounted in front of the radiator, pointed down. This is the standard Base Model F-1 horn. It's on the righthand side here, RHD trucks may be opposite?

I suspect the 49 will be different Ross, the bonnet trims are all held on with little spring clips, there are no bolts to mount a horn to.

isn't that a 51+ horn.. in 48 they had the small snail as the standard and the Twin Hi-Way horns (super rare) as the option. (pic back on my martin's supply page for the twins)

well in junkyard crawls I've seen a few (maybe 3 or 4) Kansas City trucks with 6 cyl motors mounted exactly like the picture above. All of the 8's either had no horns, no motors, or snails under the front apron. my (6 cyl KC truck) had 1 snail mounted under the left side of the front apron (right next to the park light).

I guess it's time to go horn hunting.

chuck (chuck's truck) is pretty much an expert in the 48-50's and he indicates that even the twin hi ways were under the front apron - let us know what trends you find if you would.

my 49 came with two different sized ones like that long trumpet style.

the other 49 parts truck all the hood trim was held on with nuts not push clips
