New 2012 F250..what next?

Hey guys,

I'm from the Central Coast (just north of Sydney). I just picked up a 2012 F250 Supercab (here is a pic).

It was sold by Harrison F-Trucks and converted by VDC.

I need to get Sat Nav into it, so I've got to work that out.

Any tips or advice regarding maintenance and must do mods? Are there an F Truck specialist around Sydney?

Cheers guys.

Mal.

Mal, your best bet is check out here:
6.7L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Depending on how much coin you want to throw at it, you may want to get a programmer and EGR/DPF/Urea injection delete, should improve the fuel mileage a bit, and give you up to 200 more hp, and you don't need to worry about filling up with Urea when you get it serviced - and its more conducive to running on crap quality fuel.

Other than that, other modifications are limited more to the interior/exterior, leveling kits/bar work/lights, better shocks etc.

The 6.7 are great trucks though. I am thinking of getting one myself to replace my current F350 (I just wish they still made them with a manual transmission!)

Wouldnt trust any one around here to work on one of those. One they dont know ****e and two they will rip you off. I would jump on the forum Adrian linked and learn to do it your self. Just promise me you wont park it next to mine cause that will really **** me.

Cheers guys.

I picked up a NAVMAN My ESCAPE 2. It's got the 4WD tracks on it too, so happy with that. Even took it to the Watagan's to see how it goes on a track. I was mostly happy with the way it handled some of the bigger stuff.

I'm about to buy the two Service Manuals on Ebay (or another website) and have a good friend, and European Car Mechanic look after it. Although, he is disgusted that I've bought an American car rather than another European (and selling my X5) but screw him hey haaaa.

Everyone has told me to get the programmer and a long range fuel tank (we've got a couple of big trips planned). So I might look into them both soon too.

Thanks guys.

Mal.

Dont know if the 7.3 tuners are running toons for the 6.7 but I would rather use them than a off the shelf tuner

Is it a short bed or a long bed? (It looks like a short bed from the picture you posted) - so it will have the smaller tank. Given it is only an extended cab, I don't think many of the US fuel tank manufacturers do an extended tank for Extended Cab/Short beds. So you might need to source a custom job made locally ($pendy)

For tuners - the two best companies that do them (to my knowledge) are H&S and Spartan. Neither are cheap, and I would probably recommend the former of the 2. You will want to contact them directly, as they no longer sell Tuners to people in the states (due to the EPA)

And I would agree with what Brian said in regards to finding someone to work on it (well, the engine/transmission anyway) - the rest of the truck isn't too mechanically different than the rest of the F-Series that were sold here by Ford of Australia.

Be careful buying service manuals on ebay, usually they are nothing more than this: http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/articl...L_Diesel-F.pdf
You are better off subscribing to motorcraftservice.com for a short period, and saving the areas you want as a .pdf

I looked at their site a few days ago, I couldn't see a tank that fits the Supercab Short Bed . It seemed like they were only for the Long Bed or Crew Cab.

Cheers.

That is what I thought too - your only (cheap) option is to do an in-bed fuel tank.
If you don't want it taking up space there though, you are going to have to find a welding shop...

Yep, 6.75 I think. It's pretty much the smallest F-250 you can get. I did it because it gets used everyday (in Sydney City too!!), but it's going on a big trip around Australia soon.

Cheers.

They might if you get a programmer as well, emissions delete and dump the Urea tank (the Urea tank is the issue with extended tanks on 2011+)
