On both of my '66 F250 4x4s there is nothing between the glass and the speedo head or between the glass and the bezel. The glass is just sandwiched in there. I don't notice any rattling on either truck from that area.

Black silicone works best. A real thin dab a few places around should do it. Or if your real good, a real thin layer all the way around. Let it set up before assembly. Make sure to clean glass good both before and after using silicone.
I've removed some where it looked like half a tube of silicone was used.
Silicone the glass to the bezel surround let it set up then assemble. the glass will not move nor rattle.

3M dum dum works too...I think thats the basic type of stuff used way back when...there was nothing holding the lens(glass) to the mask(black aluminum) aside from the 4 screws holding the whole tamale together..the light lenses were merely taped on as you prolly noticed.

Let me get this straight,,,,, you guys are worried about a rattle on the dash glass????? Heck, I am wearing hearing protection in my 66 250 so I can stand the rear end whine, the brakes schreech, the exhaust leaks, not to mention the wind tunnel roar around the doors.

Im with Gangstakr I just used clear silicone sealant on mine. I used the outdoor grade so it should stand up to the weather and being in a truck outside. All the ones I have taken apart appear to have some sort of black sticky material holding the glass in.

This is mine installed in the 65 with clear sealant. When the clear dries you have to look hard to see if its even there. Just go lightly with its use you dont need very much. If you ever have to break it just go to a glass shop they should be able to cut you a new one it looks like standard single or double pain glass.
