Why I love my Super Duties, why I hate my Super Duties

I've been a Ford guy since I could drive, never owned anything but, I've owned 7 Super Duties since they came out, and never had any major complaints about any of them, until the 2 I have now. (see trucks in my sig)

the '09 was bought as a company truck/ spare plow truck. It has 21k on it. I bought this newer truck with low miles because I don't have time for repairs, etc. So far, it's been in twice to replace both exhaust manifolds, (although I give Ford credit for covering these under the 8 year, 80k emissions equipment warranty), and now the hood has started to rust badly above each headlight. Overall I like the truck for what it was bought for, but I am disappointed with these two issues. The 5.4 is also an incredible dog, but I kind of expected that, as I'm used to driving the 6.7.

The '12 has been a bit more of a love/hate relationship. I bought it last July, and now have 22k on it. This truck is my daily driver. I love the way this thing runs, I love how it tows, and I love the mileage it gets. The interior is great. Mine is only an XL because I wanted something I can clean easily, but it looks nice, and is very comfortable. I hate the fact that it just came back from the dealer where they replaced the turbo. I hate the fact that having seen what it costs to work on these things, and all of the emissions and computerized BS on these things that will fail in time, there's absolutely NO way I'd even consider keeping it past the powertrain warranty. I 100% hate the rear "suspension" under these trucks. 3 springs on a super duty?!? The truck sits level empty, so if you add any load at all the truck is squatting going down the road. I did the add-a-leaf which caused driveline angle problems and a severe driveline vibration. Took those out and went to air bags, which have been very disappointing as well. All this just to make my truck with "Super Duty" plastered all over it capable of towing a load. I really hope Ford addresses this somehow; some of us still use our trucks for work, and need them to be capable!!

I want to threaten to make my next truck a Dodge..........but I'm just not to that point yet. I still like my Fords, just needed to vent a little, and wonder if anyone else has had these issues.
