hey guys i got a 90 f150 with a 4.9 and i got my eyes on this cam im gonna get the motor is already torn down so i figured why not. its a comp cam 206 lift intake and exhaust its got 110 degree lobe seperation and 252 duration at .50
its the only higher lift cam that you dont have to get high performance valve springs i got comp lifters and comp pushrods already i was wondering though will i gain power because i heard camming a 4.9 is pointless wich i think not and can i use my stock bearings
Personally, I would like to install the Crane 503901 in my 1996. I've heard nothing but good things about them but since you have Comp lifters already, the 252 or 260 would probably be your best bet. There are a lot of discussions on this subject in the Ford Inline Six sub-forum found here: Ford Inline Six, 200, 250, 4.9L / 300 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
Good luck and let us know what you pick out and how you like it!
You're welcome. The cams I listed are the most computer friendly cams I could find with an LSA that won't upset things too much. Just remember that your Speed Density factory set up isn't as forgiving as a Mass Air Flow system is. That 252 should work great. However, head flow on our engines is a major restricting factor, so if you aren't going to do any head work, then a split profile cam might be the best way to go. Just things to think about....
