Transmission filter
I am hoping to get some help on changing a transmission filter on my 1997 Ford Expedition. It is slipping out of drive after using 4x4 to get out of snow. I can start in second gear, then shift to drive and drives fine till i come to a stop, then have to start in second again. I wanted to try changing the filter and transmission fluid before giving up completly on the transmission. Thank you, Ayre.

I was looking for advice, another member said the it needed a new transmission. My father had, had the same problem once and by changing the filter and tranny fluid, he never had another problem. I had the tranny rebuilt about 25,000 miles ago. It had gotten water in it from sitting in a lake overnight. (another story). Could you please tell me your opinion, I would appreciatte it, thank you, Ayre.

First it spent time under water, and now you again have a problem after being buried in the snow. If it were me I would first replace the DTRS on the side of the tranny. If moisture got into this sensor, the tranny could be confused as to where the shift lever actually is.
