Ed's new 78 Effy
Collected this very weekend just passed.
Currently known, (by me at least) as "Oil Drippa"
Spotted the beast on gumtree, and, it being close by during the relocation of The Daughter to her new place of abode ... we bought it.
Then wondered how to get it home, being a little large to put on the trailer behind the EL Falc.
So we hung the trailer on the back of it and loaded up the Falc ... what else does one do with an untried newly acquired vehicle? ... at 11o'clock at night ...
Then, after re-wiring the trailer plug so that the lights would *(mostly ) work, I headed for home. 170kms - nearly midnight - unknown tow vehicle ... Also hadda swap the battery from the falc, as both batteries in the Effy were deceased ... and on gas only (LPG), as the petrol pump wasn't working.
Dint matter.
After a bit of a sluggish start, by the time I got past Gawler, the 351 was singin like a bird, and I had to back off more than once lest a lurking copper book me for speeding. Couple times I felt the need to check to make sure I still had a trailer *...
T'was only when I unloaded at lunch time I saw that the front of the trailer, and the falc, where coated with a fine film of oil.
bit of an issue with the driver's door to sort ...
and the odd rust spot or ten ...
and a nifty little roof console thingy ...

Bit of a update ...
Got the oil leak mostly under control. PO (or some-one close) had refitted the intake incorrectly, and left the little corky gasket bit hangin out. Oil had no choice but to stream out.
Gave it a bit of a wash, and filled the gap with slastic and we're down to a few drops/day rather than plenty drops/minute.
Now done about 3,000kms with'er, and she goes ok. bit thirsty but ... 9mpg on gas and 10 on petrol. I got out and gave the dissy a tweak and ran on petrol for a few days, and she went up to almost 12mpg, so there is hope.
Reckon when the next excise hike comes onto LPG in June I'll scrap the gas altogether and take her back to petrol only.
Also got a quote for rings and bearings & stuff, and got a pleasant surprise. prices were only a few bux more than when I did my last clevo about 15 years ago!
