I want to start a poll, but not an ordinary poll.

There is a debate going on in the suspension forum over springs and how high trucks sit. I would like everyone who has a stock suspensioned 92-96 F-150, to measure the height of their suspension. To measure, we must all measure the same. Please state what configuation you have (year, 4wd/2wd,supercab/regular cab, long/short bed that stuff). Take a tape measure and measure from the TOP CENTER of the RIM, to the bottom of the chrome trim on the fender. Please measure from all 4 tires and post. I'm trying to figure out what vehicles have for heights and need your help. Thanks. There is a picture of how to measure in my gallery under my new truck's site. Measuring this way, will neglect what size tire you have. BIG THANKS!

Me- fronts were 12.5" and rear was 15".

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Sunroof, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Check out my Gallery for a look-see.

Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Superduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Top speed is 65mph, Go Baby Go!

Ok than yours sits .5 inches lower than mine because of an 8 footer.

I will measure mine (no chrome on wheel well lip) and report back Monday. I think we also should report how many leafs are in our rear springs too.

hotrod yours sounds normal compaired to mine, because my 12.5 front and your 10" front are suppose to be 2" different because mine is 4wd and yours is 2wd. 4x4s also have 2" blocks in the back and your 2wd doesn't so that accounts for the difference.

hotrod, the 4x4 leaf springs in the back are a tad stronger than 2wd springs, so the 2" blocks and the small amount of extra strength must be the difference. That and any weight of fuel.

Here's some more. I went and measured my dad's 96 F-150 regular cab 4x4 8'. Front is 11.5, rear is 13.5. He's got a pretty heavy tool box in back, that may be why it sits a little lower.

i'll go out and measure in the morning, but how much of a difference do you think amount of fuel is going to give you in ride height?

It's probably about .5-1" if it there is only drops of fuel in it vs. full. I will measure it when it is empty because i have a tank and 1/2 of fuel in it now. And i will measure again when it's full.

No worry on the name, the front used to sag a bit, so we changed out the coils, but the leaves are the same....

I want to start a poll, but not an ordinary poll.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jul-02 AT 03:19 PM (EST)]10 5/8" front pass. side ||| 10 3/8" front driver's side(!)
14 1/16" rears - no rear blocks that I can see...

2WD Shortbed, regular cab XL, no air. Not a towing package that I know of.

Full tank of gas.

We'll see how it sits after the newer stock springs are in it sometime this week.

(32 1/8" to ground front, 35 11/16 to ground rear, but that measurement uses the tires.)
