Has anyone done a IDI swap into these trucks?

i have a 67 f100 (now a 250 since it has all the suspension and 8 lug from donor truck) and i plan to swap a 7.3L IDI into it.

did they offer IDI's with a C6? if so would i be able to keep my driveshaft since i have a C6 in it already?

any other things/problems that i should keep in mind?

anyone have pics?

im picking up the motor next week so any tips will be helpful!

also, if anyone is in the northern california (bay area) and looking for a nice running freshly rebuilt 390fe and c6, i have one forsale!

I am pretty sure there is a member here that put a powerstroke in one of these. Cant remember which one though? Do you already have the 7.3?

I don't know anyone personally who's done an IDI swap into a Bumpside, but they did come with C6s behind them. I don't know if you'd be able to use your existing driveshaft, but probably so, it would depend on your engine placement and if you were able to keep the tranny in the same location.

ok cool, looks like ill get a c6 to go behind it.

if they are the same length then ill set the trans in the crossmember in same location and build the motor mounts from there. not 100% sure on motor size and whatnot untill i pick it up next week.

Well, if it's an IDI than it would be either 6.9 or 7.3, depending on what year. The 6.9 is supposed be a better engine.

I used to work for an equipment and diesel repair shop. He had a C6 out in the yard that he said came off an IDI, the only thing that interested me about it was that it had a Doug Nash overdrive unit on the back of it. He said I could haul it away, it all worked as far as he knew. I never bothered and if I know him, it's still sitting there in the same place. If you want, I can check and see if he still has it. You're not too far away from me.

Lake County. I'll check with him tomorrow, I've been meaning to go by there for a while anyway. And I doubt very much you'd have any problems fitting it in physically, I don't think it's any larger than say a 460.
