You shift up or down by double-clutching. With some practice and proper clutch adjustment it isn't hard.

Hey BB52. If I can paste and copy this link stuff right than in this thread "Progress...hanging sheetmetal!!" on page 31 is a video of Keith's Patrol Truck with one of the original drivers driving it in a parade.
It shows very clearly how to shift a crash box. At least to an old timer like me.

Hope this helps. And if you haven't followed this build and ya got the time check it out. It's way more than just a hobby to some.

Swap Meet

Good meeting all you guys. The truck needs a little work (don't they all?) so I am off to see Ross this morning to take care of some issues...

Guys,

Ross was great today. Rebuilt carb, did compression check, timed, fixed some wiring, etc. could not have done it without him! This 239 ran 60-65 all the way home ( about 40 miles) and I would still be at it but for my duties at home. Sorry, no pics.

Lar,
I was gonna stop in at Ross's on my way home this afternoon and visit a bit but I got hung up and didn't get out of the office until after 4:00. I didn't figure you'd still be there so I just went home.

Sounds like a productive day, I'm glad he was able to get you straightened out.
Big round of frosty beverages to Ross

It's a real joy working on a truck that is (mostly) unmolested! Still, I expect to see Lar post in the "worst thing the PO did" thread, some real head scratchers...

Ross is a good man to have around. He came to my place back in September. He helped me do some much-needed wrenching on my truck right before the crowd showed up. He rebuilt my carb in seemingly a matter of minutes. You're in good hands there! I've heard some good things about your truck.

I was really hoping Professor Ross was going to make it to Truckfest in a couple of weeks! Plenty of stuff to tinker with here as well. Keep up the good work Ross!
