75 F-150 questions

Today I bought a 75 F-150 Ranger XLT Viking Edition in Packer Country.
It's well equipped, 390, rust free, with ac.
How many VIKING Editions were built ? What other teams were recognized?
The seller is providing the original wheel covers and steering wheel.
The aux. gas tank was removed. Does someone have a spare?
The dash switch and the valve on the floor are still in place.

There's no such thing as a "Viking" edition; that's somebody else's creative work.

You will not find the term "Viking edition" in any Ford literature. That's a nickname that a previous owner made up or heard from someone else sometime during the truck's life. People assign terms to vehicles like that all the time. "Special paint" may have referred to a custom order; one example could be a fleet order. I doubt the dealer is going to have any idea what you're talking about.

By the way, welcome to FTE, and congrats on the purchase.

My truck's build sheet has "special paint" as well. It was a regular tu-tone, black on the roof was textured. What designates or leads you to believe it was a "Viking edition"?

Can you show the fuel switches? Never seen one on a dent and my 76 just didn't have one and it had an Incab and a bed tank.

75 F-150 Ranger XLT VIKING Edition aux. fuel tank

The Aux. fuel tank was installed in 75 along with the camper.
Both are gone. However, the tank selector valve and the gauge switch
on the dash are still in place.
The assy was made by RECREATIONAL MARKETING INC. WACO TX

Aux. fuel tank

I kind of doubt it. If you google Recreational Pdts Marketing Inc.
you get several law suits. That name is on the plate screwed to the
floor next to the drivers seat under the valve.
I may get the tank along with the wheel covers, running boards, steering wheel from
the family that bought it new. I'm hoping for the stock air cleaner too.

Regards,
John

Welcome to FTE!

The Viking Edition most likely was something that the Dealer came up with. Here in Colorado, there are always some local special editions created by the dealers, like for instance: Rocky Mountain Edition, Broncos Edition, Rocky's Edition, etc. I've also seen some special editions fabricated by the Texas dealers: Longhorn Edition, Texas Edition, etc. These special editions have nothing to do from the factory and are just local designs.

F-150 info.

Hi,
Until the shop manual set arrives via ebay, what does the axle code
of 15J mean?
Do you have an aux. gas tank? Mine was removed. However the valve
was left in place as was the guage selector switch.
Regards,
John

Axle code 15J:

I'm pretty sure the 15 means a 3.25 gear ratio.

The J means the truck has power steering.
