No V-10 engines for 2014 model F-450/F-550 & F-650/F-750s?!

Yeah, I heard that F650/750 production was moving to that Ohio facility, too, but isn't it after the 2013 Econoline vans are phased out of production? Maybe the V10 will also be offered in the F750 for 2014,too? I dunno why Ford didn't offer it in 2012-2013 F750s, like the F650s. It really doesn't make sense why they chose NOT to offer the V10 in the F750. There again, a 400 horsepower, 500 lb./ft. of torque V10 would make a lot of sense. And save $8,300 over a diesel engine in the same truck! I don't hold the pen that signs the paperwork, however. Isn't it ironic that back in '98-'99 the gasoline-powered medium duty FORDs were "a thing of the past"? Maybe the "strictly diesel powered" thing was a hasty decision???? Thus we have the V10......for 2014. Whew! I was worried there for a minute.

I almost forgot! As far back as 2001, I pleaded with Ford to put the V10 in the F-650/750 trucks, but to no avail. I must admit when they announced the V10 was going into the medium duty(F650) back in July 2010(?) 2011, I was very surprised. Geez, took 'em long enough to listen to reason! (LOL!!!!!!!!!)

If you look into ordering a F-650 with the V-10, you will see that it is very restrictive. Torq-Shift automatic only, no air brakes, limited GVW and GCW (the reason it is not in the F-750). I have not driven one yet, but I hear they are quite underpowered. The perfect rental truck!

I must disagree with the F650 V10 being "underpowered". I've driven two examples, both 158" wb trucks, and they felt pretty darn powerful for their size/application. One was a chassis cab, sans a upfit, with the standard 6.43:1 axle ratio, the other was fitted with a dumper, but had a 7.17:1 axle ratio. I agree the V10 in this application needs more transmission choices(like Fuller 6&7 speeds, as with the Cummins diesels). In regards to GM, FORD has a better idea(s). I'll assume F650 V10s destined for U-Haul duty will be the low profile ProLoader trucks with 19.5"wheels/tires, and lower capacity front& rear axles. Ford offers a straight frame F650, with higher GVW, and 22.5" wheels/tires, plus beefier front& rear axle capacities. From what I was told some F650s can be made into Class 7 trucks. At least this is what I was told. I've driven older F600/700s with the EFI429(7.0L) big blocks. While I'm fond of the Lima 370/429/460 engines, the V10, in the medium duty, is a quantium leap over the old 429 performance- wise. The Cummins is a good engine, but the V10 is a wise/cheaper alternitive. Especially in smaller fleets. It just should've happened sooner:2001. Maybe Ford would've took that U-Haul contract from GM back then.(?)

Just saw the 2014 Ford ordering guides today. The tried-n-true V10 is still available in the F450/F550s, F53 chassis, F59 chassis, and Econoline van for 2014 MY. The 3v V10 is still rated at 362 horsepower and 457 lb./ft. of torque , and the 2v V10( in Econoline) is still rated at 305 horsepower and 420 lb./ft. of torque. No word yet on the 3v V10 in the 2014 F650 trucks. No ordering guide available as of yet. Info. on the upcoming 2014 MY F650/F750 trucks isn't out. Can't wait to see an ordering guide for these trucks. Probably late 2013/ early 2014.

It sounds like a matter of not if but when. Has anyone had any experience with the new 6.2 pulling a load? I wont buy a diesel and eventually will need a TV with 10K lbs capacity that really can pull, not just say it can. I just can't see me "replacing" the X with an Expedition. What's the 3/4 ton option that can haul 6 people? The future, in this case, is worrisome. Already lost the X, now the V10...ugh.

The 2v v10 and 3v v10 are still being offered in the class C and class A motorhome chassis , ford says there up about 25% on those chassis demand. The V10 is basically the only gasoline motor for large motor homes. When you stroll down the isle of new motorhomes its the V10 or diesel pusher. Go V10 i say

Good Price for 2014 F550 V10
I have a 2008 F550 chassis cab with 120k and 6.4 diesel that I am looking trade in and I've considered a v10, 6.7 Powerstroke, or Ram 5500 cummins. The quotes that I've gotten so far are 8-10k lower for the gas. I loved the v10 in my other 08 f350 box truck but am worried about the mileage with 4.88 gears and a heavy 16ft box/liftgate/load. I averaged 9.5 mpg in my F350 but that was much lighter with 4.10s. The price I was quoted was $33 k for a base xl f550 and $34,500 for one with a few power options. Basically just the msrp minus factory rebates. The ram was pretty loaded with a Cummins for $44k (msrp 51,300) The toughest part is getting a resonable trade in value on my truck. Ford is offering me 2-3k more than the dodge dealer. Anybody know of a good dealer that offers significant discounts on chassis cabs? I'm in Houston but will drive
