Wink Where are we on mirrors??

My LATE '99s mirrors arms have started to peel and rust again after expensive $$ powdercoating about 2 years ago.

I don't think the darn guy primed them before the powdercoating...and to the best of my knoledge they are galvanized to start with....

I am most likely going to replace them with a set of the '08 up mirrors this year, and am curious as to what folks here are experiancing as far as quality, fit and rattling on the aftermarket units.

THEY seem TOO cheap to be any good, my original mirrors DO NOT rattle, and I don't want to trade cosmetics for rattling mirrors!

This all said my originals will be for sale when the time comes...NON-telescoping, power-adjustible top mirror only with added chrome covers...they are real decent mirrors-just a bit of rust on one arm on each side.......and if I am going to remove them again I will replace before I have them fixed again.....not interested in taking these apart again-lol

I plan on putting aftermarket 08 mirrors on my truck at some point, probably kool vue or something. OEM is too expensive to be worth it to me. I had aftermarket 03-07 lighted/heated mirrors on my old truck and the first pair they sent me one of the mirrors vibrated alot but the second pair was pretty nice. ran them for a year and didnt really have any complaints. got them from 1aauto.com

btw the second pair got sent to me no questions asked, very quickly, with a return label

I had to replace a 2003 LH and I got it from A&M Auto, I think. I have not had any problems.
Been on about two years now.

Got mine from eBay. Not great, not terrible. Mine are 05 lighted/heated etc etc... I would like some 08s eventually.

So far then the feeling of the aftermarket units are marginal at best.

At least my originals don't vibrate! I HATE vibrating mirrors!

I have some 03+ aftermarket heated tow mirrors with turn signals. Got them off ebay, A&M Auto I think. They have done me just fine. Maybe a little more shaky than OEM, but not enough to blur vision. I dont think the 08+ mirrors look right on the older body style. Just too bulky and too square for the round edges on the pre-07, in my opinion.

My Driver side mirror is an 08 kool vue and I do not have any problems with vibrating at all. The passenger side is an OEM 08 mirror. I cannot tell a difference between the 2 mirrors.

I agree with the above. Too square and bulky for our trucks. Just my opinion. I have driven several 08 + trucks and feel the view out of our mirrors is far better than the 08+ mirrors. I do like the huge orange light on the side though. Its WAY brighter than the 06-07 mirrors were.

Here's my post from January of this year posted in the Vendor Foum.

With Tousley Ford's discount, the prices are $396.68 for the right and $326.68 for the left.

I just bought a set of these mirrors...

...from 1A Auto at a cost of $387 bucks for two.

Unfortunately I got the last set, so they are temporarily out now.

So far, they've been GREAT, and they do NOT vibrate!

I gave my OEM set...with a brand new set of C-Betr mirrors that had just been installed...to Pete.

Stewart

PS - Like I stated, the post was from January of this year, so ignore the "out of stock" part.

I'm also on the hunt for newer mirrors to replace the originals on my '99 F250SD. My LH housing looks like it was shot with a .22, and a few weeks ago the RH mirror glass simply popped off going over the Tappen Zee bridge.

My mirrors were all manual, but I really like the idea of power folding as I drive in NYC and Philly frequently, and that can be a very handy feature. I'm sure my RH mirror was loosened up quite a bit due to a few smacks against various things hanging out too far in the street.

Are there any aftermarket mirrors with all the power options? I've been searching but haven't found anything so far.

As far as usability. I have an 02 and an 08.

08 mirrors are 10 times better and easier to see out of.

Nope.

I put 'em on my '99 rig and it came with the proper pigtail harness too, even though it wasn't advertised to have the proper connection.

The ONLY issue is there is no provision on my truck for powering the side marker lights. So I'm gonna have to run a wire for that.

What do you mean by "all" options? Are you including power extend?

If not, did you see my post above with pictures and a link?
