Wanting to convert stock point to electronic ignition...

I have a 1968 390GT.
What are the pro's and con's?
And what is the best total system to install if I do decide to go with the electronic ignition?
I have tried the Ignitor II, but it did not work correctly.
It would work but only with the switch in the "On" position.
I couldn't figure out how to make it work, so we took it back to the parts store.
The guy at the counter said there may have been a part missing with the system out of the box.
So we went back with the stock points?
Any advice would be helpful.

Is that electronic?
Or is it an amped up points system?
Sorry if that is a stupid question.

Its electronic.

do some searching in the forum, this topic comes up all the time.
keywords to check for:
duraspark conversion, DUI, Pertronix, MSD

two questions:
1. are you afraid to run a few wires?
2. what's your budget?

if you're not afraid of doing a little wiring, there are junkyard alternatives that cost almost nothing.

or you can go all-out race and spend $300-$400.

Keep us posted- there's enough people here to answer pretty much any question you may have on the topic.

I am a huge fan of junkyard upgrades, this is what I'm running:
Points to Electronic Ignition Cheap & Easy - ADVrider

I took it a step further by removing the resistor and swapping the coil out with the Ford e-core (from the same vehicle as the module).

As far as performance, I can't tell ANY difference between this setup, and the MSD/Pertronix that I removed.

But its different strokes for different folks- do some digging, and we'll answer any questions you have.
