It also wouldn't hurt if the upgraded interiors were made available to the regular cab segment. Having a Lariat and or King Ranch availability can't hurt IMHO. It seems like the regular cab truck (which I'm sure is used mostly as a true work truck by its owners) gets the least attention in the F-150 series??

Can't they, with all of the diversified assembly line technology today, just as easily install a Lariat interior in a regular cab as they can in say a crew? Then why not allow for the option? I don't get it. Ditto with tire/rim selections. Some F-150's do NOT have the 20" option. What's with that? The tire section on the assembly line just throws the tires out onto a rack that is pushed over to the respective truck and the lug fastener is then applied. All in what 10 seconds?

Three reasons:
Some of the parts and pieces may not be interchangable. You can't put 20s on an HD Payload truck, for instance, because it uses a 7-lug wheel. You can't put the fancy sound system in a regular cab because there's no place for the subwoofer. Etc.
Market positioning. If you allow too much substitution and too many upgrades, you start blurring the lines between your various packages/"tiers". A non-F150 case in point - the Explorer Sport can't be purchased with HID headlights. Why, you ask, on a mid-40s "luxury" SUV? Because there has to be some differentiators between the top-end Explorer and the Lincoln MKT (which is already distinguished because the MKT is gawd-awful ugly, but that's a thread for another time).
Money. They want you to buy that fancy package if you want the 20" wheels, and they don't want the "class" of the 20" wheels (and thus, the people that paid all that extra money to get them) diluted by having them on a lower-level truck.
