I just figured it was much like Alabama or Tennessee. I really didn't know gators went that far north.
We've also got black bears & mountain lions. While some will say there aren't any mountain lions in Arkansas...allot of hunters in my area have seen the tracks and a conductor & I saw what sure looked like it chasing a rabbit one night in front of our train SE of Branson, MO (was still in Ark).

Sure do have both of those. My wife even saw a lion one night about 3 miles north of the house. Ive heard them plenty of times north of the river but never south of the river.
On my land in the mountains in Alabama, there are still a few Mountain Lions and several Bobcats that still roam around the bluffs and such. But I have never seen or heard of Bear in Alabama....but that doesn't mean there couldn't be.
Lions... Bears...Hogs... You guys are gonna make me carry the .45 every time I go to the back 40.
I've seen wild bobcats around, but they are just a little bigger than a house cat.
Never seen any wild hogs or signs of such around. When I was a kid there was a guy that swore up and down there was a big cat of some sorts in the area.
A few years back I was walking down the top of a levee in Garner and a big black coyote came out from behind a big cedar tree and crossed about 30ft from me.. I had the 7mm ultra mag on my shoulder but the chamber was empty. That will get the ole blood pumping... thankfully he kept on going
Wild hogs are common in my part of the state. Really can't have a garden or any plants on the ground at my place on the river, the hogs come through occasionally and just mow everything down to a nub

This pic is from Lake Grampus in southeast Arkansas. Less than a mile away, my father-in-law nearly hit a black bear streaking across the highway. I bet there are snappin' turtles in this lake that could take a good chunk of flesh too...
