Why are fleet trucks white?

Is white somehow cheaper than another color to paint? Why are all city owned trucks white?

I know it's a terrible color to have up here in Canada because rusts shows up much quicker.

Not all fleet trucks are white. Ours are red and yellow.

White is a great base color and easy to add graphics or decals to suit. It also is easy to keep clean and easier to sell on the used vehicle market.

Go to Walmart, price white and red spray paint. White Is cheaper.

I also agree with everyone else, white goes with basically every other color and easy to off if needed. There is more white SuperDuty locally than I can count on my hands and feet!

Because when made pretty much ALL paint is white till they add the other colors. The other colors cost more money like mentioned.

because white is one of the coolest colors Ford offers. Just joking.
Really anything goes with it and a lot easier to see decals and stuff on the doors. Plus a lot cheaper.

Good for adding any graphics, easy to match if you are painting a panel (and just about any vehicle in the world will need something painted if kept for years), does not show bad bodywork as obviously, stays cool inside in the hot sun--and keeps tools, equipment, etc cool as well, is one of the better colors to not show light colored dirt and salt--which is most dirt (compared to black which looks dirty about a half hour after it's washed). And easy to sell after fleet is done--compared to purple trucks with green interiors.

My '02 E150 van is a mild conversion; I bought it new and had a choice of colors from the dealer. I was trading in a BLACK GMC Savana. I chose white. One other thing--I have a door that is showing a little rust, and am guessing if I did a search for a used door, it would be easy to find a white one.

Go to Ford's website and "build a truck". White paint may be cheaper, but the MSRP doesn't change when you select a color other than white.

That said, my new F250 is white but I figure with enough money, I can make it not look like a company truck. That also said...

With the heat of our Central Texas Summers and having just traded a black truck, white may not be such a bad thing after all..

Easiest color to keep looking clean. White doesn't show dirt like many other colors too.
