Go to this thread and read all about it. I used the code from here when I painted Missy Green with PPG.
Good luck, have fun

VINs are not hard to decode. There's not much to them. You can post your numbers here and several of us can tell you off the top of our heads. You don't need a fancy decoder ring.

My dad and I took it for it's first drive today at lunch. The only issue we had was after he hit a pothole, it had the shimmies until you slowed down. Oh, and the speedo reads wrong... 50 showed 35, I think it just needs cleaned and re-oiled though (gotta love iPhone apps). Neither one of us can double clutch well, I guess we'll learn

Check the steering box to make sure the mounting bolts are tight. If they are go through the other front end parts. I think you might have some loose parts.

Double clutch takes some practice but you'll get the hang of it.

I found the hood ornament on ebay last night, probably re-chrome it some day, unless I find a better one.

With a truck that old, unknown past maintenance or repairs, every part of the front end is suspect. Half the fun of playing with this old junk, right. Other wise, we'd all be driving new stuff.............

A 7 years ago I drove a 56 Chevy 4-door as my daily driver for 3 years. I can tell you this, there was a lot of improvements between this '50 and my old '56.

I may have found a set of rear fenders, how can you tell if there for a F2/F3? I assume the easiest would be to lay them down and get the measurement from the floor to the lip, but what is that measurement?

I took me a little bit, but I did find a hood ornament the other day, it was delivered today.
