Towing with a 4.6

I have a small camper with a net weight of about 2500# I wouldn't weigh over 3000# completely loaded. Would a 2008 F 150 with a 4.6 engine be able to pull it OK or is it too small of an engine for towing?

With a 4.6 it will be an easy pull. I've pulled 5,000 plus with a 4.6 with no issue. I pull up to 5K with a 4.2.

I've pulled my camper on a 1500 mile trip last summer with my 05 F150 and the 4.2. It handled mountains with ease.

Does your truck have a transmission cooler? If not, you might want to have one installed. (If you have the towing package on the truck, the cooler's included in that.)

my 150 didn't have the towing package but it did come with a 4 pass cooler. I think the towing package comes with a 7 pass.

watch your temps, your truck has an E-fan and not sure how that might affect it...

I have been wondering if I have a transmission cooler, if not I was allready planning on getting one. I will be watching my engines water temp. Thank you for your replies to my post. If it wasn't for all the good people on Ford Truck Enthusiasts I would be at a total loss.

With my 4.2 I've never had any temp issues when pulling. I'd sometimes lock it out of overdrive. Usually on grades and if it was shifting in and out of OD.
